The University of Illinois and Aerospace Engineering, in particular, are sending their  good wishes as AE alumnus Michael Hopkins takes off today for the International Space Station.

The College of Engineering and AE at Illinois have produced a video saying "Good Luck!" for Hopkins' liftoff at 3:58 p.m. Central Standard Time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, destined for the International Space Station. Via satellite, selected University of Illinois students will get the chance October 29 for a live chat with Hopkins while he's in space.

The launch will be streamed live Wednesday on NASA Television. More information on Hopkins and his mission can be found here, and he can be followed on Twitter.

Hopkins, BS 91, has been training for two years for the journey, and NASA has produced a video, “Train Like an Astronaut: Countdown to Liftoff,” highlighting the physical work.

All at the University wish Hopkins a safe and enlightening journey. Go Illlini!
