Thu, 09/06/2007 - 19:00 The U.S. News & World Report rankings moved our Department up to 6th, our highest USN&WR mark since they began doing rankings in 1987. Over the years we have always been in the top ten, and this year moved ahead of several excellent aerospace programs.

Wed, 08/01/2007 - 19:00 As students presented Prof. John Prussing with his retirement gift - a life-size, cardboard cutout of him dressed in a dark suit (that he said he didn't recognize!) - they joked about how it could be used. They suggested it be positioned at the Department's doorway and , when guests entered, a recording of Prussing's voice be played with the greeting, "Welcome to Aerospace Engineering!"

Craig Dutton, who has accepted an offer to become the new Department Head effective Sept. 1, 2007, and will be awarded the Abel Bliss Professorship in the College of Engineering pending Board of Trustees' approval. Dr. Dutton is already familiar with Aerospace Engineering's people and programs through 15 years of affiliation as a former faculty member in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana.

Mon, 06/04/2007 - 19:00 In his first space flight, Aerospace Engineering alumnus Lee "Bru" Archambault (BS 1982, MS 1984) will pilot NASA’s shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station on June 8. A U.S. Air Force colonel, Archambault will serve as both shuttle pilot and orbiter robotic arm operator.
