The Department of Aerospace Engineering is hosting a live-streamed Q&A with NASA Astronaut Mike Hopkins at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.

Hopkins, who received his B.S. in aerospace engineering in 1991 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will answer questions from his current location on the International Space Station.

Anyone can join the 25-minute conversation with Hopkins on the Dept. of AE’s YouTube channel.

Questions will be asked live by AE students and faculty, and representatives from the UIUC football team. Additional pre-recorded questions from community members will be included in the live stream.

Hopkins is commander on the Crew-1 SpaceX Crew Dragon Resilience, which launched on November 15, 2020. He is also a flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expedition 64, his second long-duration space mission. Hopkins previously logged 166 days in space as a member of the Expedition 37/38 crew.

He was recently recognized by The Grainger College of Engineering with an Alumni Award for Distinguished Service.
