Ph.D. student Cade Boggan competed this week as one of 13 finalists in this year’s Research Live! contest. He won the Visionary Award for his three-minute lightning talk style video presentation describing his research focus.
Boggan, who is advised by Matthew Clarke in the Department of Aerospace Engineering in The Grainger College of Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, shared his vision for battery-powered aircraft. Clarke heads the Laboratory for Electric Aircraft Design and Sustainability.
The title of his talk is, “Reimagining Electric Aircraft Battery Cell Testing Through Accelerated Aging and Evolving Load Profiles.”
Previously, Boggan studied at Johns Hopkins University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Washington, and Howard University.
Now in its 10th year, Research Live! is a campus-wide program sponsored by the Graduate College at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. To view all of this year’s winning video presentations, visit https://grad.illinois.edu/news/2025-research-live-winners.
