AE alumnus Stanley A. Deal was recently selected to head Boeing's division in charge of selling its commercial airplanes as president and CEO. Deal earned his BS in '86 from Illinois. He also holds an MBA from Pepperdine University.

A story about his selection by reporter Kyle Arnold appeared in The Dallas Morning News on Oct. 22. “Boeing parts with top commercial exec in 737 Max fallout.”

Another story appeared in Bloomberg on Nov. 15. “New Face of Boeing Jets Tries to Win Back 737 Max Buyers,” was written by reporters Julie Johnsson and Harry Suhartono.

Former astronaut Scott D. Altman, BS ’81, has been selected to receive this year’s Order of Lincoln, the state of Illinois’ highest honor for professional achievement and public service. An article, “Two UI graduates among five to be awarded Order of Lincoln,” written by reporter Julie Wurth, appeared in The News-Gazette on Nov. 15.
