Professor Scott White Named As a Donald Biggar Willett Professor

The UIUC College of Engineering has named Professor Scott R. White as a Donald Biggar Willett Professor. Donald Biggar Willett Professorhips, which honor the late Mr. Willett who attended the University of Illinois from 1916-1922, were established to increase the distinction of the College and its departments by recognizing and stimulating intellectual leadership and outstanding research.

The UIUC College of Engineering has named Professor Scott R. White as a Donald Biggar Willett Professor. Donald Biggar Willett Professorhips, which honor the late Mr. Willett who attended the University of Illinois from 1916-1922, were established to increase the distinction of the College and its departments by recognizing and stimulating intellectual leadership and outstanding research.

Professor Scott R. White joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering faculty at the UIUC in 1990 and also holds appointments in the departments of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and Materials Science and Engineering. In 2000, he joined the faculty of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, where he leads the Autonomic Materials Group. An internationally recognized materials engineer, Professor White has played a leading role in the development of self-healing materials and multifunctional materials systems.
