Building junkyard rockets and balsa wood gliders are among highlights the Women in Aerospace student group have planned to encourage girls’ excitement for aerospace during the 2017 “Girls Learning Air and Space Science” event April 8.
“We hope that the event will provide an opportunity for middle school aged girls to learn about aerospace and engineering in general,” said organizer Alexandra Bacula. “There aren’t many existing engineering/STEM events for this age, so we wanted to provide one.”
The free event, geared for 5th through 8th grade girls, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 103 Talbot Laboratory, 104 S. Wright St., on the University of Illinois
