Immediate plans: Began working in February, 2020 for Boeing Phantom Works in St. Louis

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? "I would like to be living somewhere where I can take a hike with a wonderful view.  Where the work I do has an impact on my surroundings.  Where I can coach a youth soccer team."

Favorite college memories:  “Driving back home from Grainger at 5 a.m.  with friends after completing a project.”

Immediate plans: “Working at Northrop Grumman Aerosciences group.”

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? “In a tiny house meditating on my own land.”

Favorite college memories:  “Working on my group's space senior design project, staying up till midnight in the NEL, hanging out with every other space senior in aerospace, and working on our rockets together. Also, in Student Space Systems, firing our hybrid rocket for the first time on our test stand at Willard. And finally, my first job in the aerospace industry at NASA Ames, watching the arc-jet fire and seeing a heat shield glow for the first time in my life, and knowing that I earned this experience, was a very, very good experience.”

Immediate plans: “No plans due to COVID, unfortunately, but I'll be heading back to California to find a job in the aerospace industry, and maybe return to NASA.”

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? “I'd love to be on the west coast, working in the commercial space industry and hopefully on the Artemis project again.”

Favorite memories: “Attending the AIAA design build fly competitions and teaching new members how to design competitive aircraft.”

 Immediate plans:  “Covid-19 has complicated plans, but either getting a master’s degree at the University of Illinois or working for the government's CCDC AvMC Software, Simulation, Systems, and Integration program in Huntsville, Alabama.”

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? “Getting a master’s degree at the University of Illinois and getting a job working on the development of autonomous vehicles.”

Favorite memories: “Spending countless hours at Grainger for team meetings during senior design because my team didn't like the aero lab. Many stories were told during this time and I still need to buy coffee and tea for my team.”

Immediate plans: “Relaxing a bit for the summer and spending time with my girlfriend and family.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “I want to be flying some sort of aircraft.”

Favorite college memory:  “Professor Langbort teaching dynamics with lamp shades.”

Immediate plans: “Working at Scheflow Engineers, a Civil Engineering firm.”

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? “Working for a commercial aircraft engine manufacturer.”

Favorite memories: “Best memories from AE at U of I are late nights in AE labs, getting hands dirty working on drones or airfoils.  I greatly enjoyed making friends, participating in Student Space Systems (SSS) in the earlier years.”

Immediate plans: “Celebrate social distancing through a summer full of solo camping. But on a serious note, I’m actively looking for a full-time career in experimental propulsion or aerodynamics analysis.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “I would like to be actively involved in the development of experimental aircraft or manned spaceflight missions to mars, married to my high school sweetheart, and continuing to be an active family member of the aerospace community at UIUC.”

Favorite memories: “The vibes and intensity felt in the week of playoffs of intramurals soccer is something that I will never forget. Rushing through midterms and submitting unfinished homework was necessary with the sole purpose of having a proper warm up before every playoff soccer game. Thanks soccer, for being the most important of the unimportant things in life.”

Immediate plans: “I will be continuing on to a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at UIUC.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “Hopefully in 10 years, I will be playing some soccer with my brothers, and my main job would be to make the BBQ’s in all the family events.”

Favorite memories: “Exploring everything this campus has to offer, the peacefulness of an early-morning walk back from Aero lab/Grainger/UAV Lab, enjoying many exciting and questionable activities with friends, and of course, senior design!”

Immediate plans: “Continue to flatten the curve while searching for full time job opportunities in the aviation industry.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “Working my way up the ladder, being surrounded by friends and family, and continuing my love for U of I.”

What are your favorite college memories: “Days (and nights) in the Transportation Building working with drones for AE 483. Taking breaks from studying in the aero lab and Grainger to get boba tea and Dunkin' on Green with friends.”

Immediate plans: “I'll be at The MathWorks, just outside of Boston.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “I'd like to return to university to pursue additional education, probably in computer science.”

Favorite college memories:  "All the space senior design groups were working on their projects in NRL all night.  We bought pizza and did some shenanigans to keep the morale high through the night."

Immediate plans: Manufacturing engineer internship for Oshkosh Corporation

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years?  "Have a solid career hopefully in the space industry. Also, have loving friends, and family."

Favorite college memories: "My favorite memories from the AE department include launching our Illinois Space Society rocket at the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition last summer in the Mojave Desert. Another fun memory was pulling an all-nighter in the Nuclear Engineering Lab with a bunch of the other space senior design teams."

Immediate plans: Graduate school at the University of Illinois

Where do you want to be in 5 to 10 years: "In the future I hope to be working as a mission designer/planner for future space missions."

Favorite college memories:  “My favorite memories are all the tech projects I was involved with in my time here. It's hard to pick just one. I loved the problem solving, late-night build sessions, and finding creative ways to test components. One of my favorites was my freshman year when we built a pitot tube and tested it at high speeds by driving down the highway.”

Immediate plans: “I will be getting a Ph.D. at Illinois.”

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? “I hope to be working on an exciting interplanetary mission.”

Favorite memories: “I really enjoyed just hanging out with my friends from aero, whether it was at a party or in the aero lab.”

Immediate plans: "I'll be starting my career with Northrop Grumman doing propulsion design in Salt Lake City this summer, and in the fall I'll be beginning my studies for a master's degree.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “Hopefully I will have finished my master's and will be working on a project to take humans to Mars.”

Favorite memories: “As much as I hate to say it, pulling all-nighters working on group projects and assignments are definitely a few of my favorite memories.”

Immediate plans: “I will be working at Maxar Technologies in Palo Alto, CA in the Assembly Integration and Test Department this coming fall. I'm excited to get some hands-on experience with spacecraft hopefully working on the Power and Propulsion Element of NASA's Lunar Gateway!”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “Hopefully working my way up through management, and ultimately being a figure in the commercial space industry.”

Favorite college memories: Design Build Fly

Immediate plans:  I will be working as a Mechanical Design Engineer for Elgin Sweeper (Federal Signals Corporation).

Future plans: "I would like to be an Engineer II +!"

What are your favorite college memories: “My favorite memory has to be being a part of Illini Motorsports.  Being around so many people with a similar passion and dedication is an extremely rare opportunity that I am so grateful for.”

Immediate plans: “Associate Manufacturing Engineer at Northrop Grumman in Utah.”

Favorite memories: “One of my favorite memories was meeting up at Murphy's for AIAA Happy Hour with my friends and talking to Professor Merret. Also, I loved studying abroad in Madrid, Spain my second semester sophomore year. Finally, I always enjoyed the interactions, both during the day and during late nights, at the aero lab with all the AE students.”

Immediate plans: “I will be working full time at Northrop Grumman in Rolling Meadows, IL, where I will be in a rotational program starting off as a Systems Engineer.”

Where I’d like to be in 5 to 10 years: “I would like to have my master's degree and either be in a design role or be in project management.”

Favorite college memories:  “When asked what my favorite memories are from my years in AE at U of I, two things come to mind.  The first is seeing and meeting astronaut Mike Hopkins at his talk about life on the International Space Station in Spring of 2017.  The second is attending the drone light show for the 75th anniversary of the department in Fall of 2019.”

Immediate plans: “I am planning to continue on to graduate school for a master's degree in aerospace engineering.”

Where would you like to be in 5 to 10 years? “I would like to be working for a private spaceflight company helping to develop technology that will continue humanity's mission to develop civilization on the Moon and put astronauts on Mars.”
