75 years in air and space

This month, the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is kicking off a year-long celebration of its 75^th anniversary.

One special addition is a timeline--a graphic representing how a small sampling of departmental milestones and alumni accomplishments fit within the past seven and a half decades. It includes highlights from culture and the air and space industries.

An exhaustive list, of departmental highlights alone, would be impossible to fit into a printed timeline. Consequently, throughout this 75th anniversary year, many more photos and highlights will be posted on AE’s website and social media. Even then, it will only be a small representation of the people and accomplishments the department has seen since 1944.
